Google says they treat all those TLDs exactly the same. I have never had any problems ranking a .info or a .co.cc either.
It’s not search engines that value the .coms more, it is people. Some people just trust them more since they are more common and they are more comfortable with the conventional.
The .co.cc subdomains are only free for personal use. If you are placing ads or selling a product they cost $3 per year. Also, they are subdomains not the same as a primary domain. If you register one primary domain you can use as many subdomains as you want for free. So it wouldn’t be $200 or $800, it would be $8-$10 dollars per year for unlimited subdomains.
