Flowcharts use special shapes to represent different types of actions or steps in a process. These shapes usually referred to as “standard flowchart symbols” will improve the clarity of your flowchart. Also, consider using a unique color for each type of symbol to make like types easy to find in the flow.
Another thing you can do to distinguish different phases of a process is to use distinctly different background colors for each section containing the flowchart symbols that occur within that phase. This makes it easier to find where one phase of a process ends, and another begins.
