Nothing new here.
Google hates poor quality content that has no meaningful value to users. They hated it the day they launched, they hate it today, and for the foreseeable future.
It doesn’t matter if the poor/low-value content is placed in a guest blog post, a syndicated article, directory listing, bookmarking description, blog comment, forum post, “crap is crap” and they will always seek to prevent it from influencing or appearing in SERPs.
If you are using low-value content in any format or platform, you can expect to be a target for devaluing in the index.
