Generally speaking, there is no problem with using hyphens. Perhaps it the way you are using it that could be problematic?
You say you are using hyphens in your “title”, I frequently use hyphens in page titles and have many top-ranked listings. Just do a few random searches and you will see many top-ranked pages that have used hyphens within their page titles.
